When to Search the Internet

In library research, we usually suggest using library databases for high-quality and appropriate content, capacity for precise searching, and more full text results.
However, there are times and situations where the Internet is a great place to search. Try searching the Internet when you are searching for:
-Statistics
-Government agency information and research
-Information on a scholarly author (curriculum vitae or contact information)
-Inspiration for your topic (try a thesaurus for term ideas or look for a bibliography on your topic)
-Supplementary information on your topic
-Quotations (http://www.bartleby.com)
-Book location in the area(beyond ITP Library-try Worldcat.org)
-Information on test publishers
Remember, information from the Internet will take closer examination and evaluation than resources from a library database.
If you have questions about when and how to use the Internet in your research, just talk to Lucy or Katrina.
