FAQ: How Do I Find a Dissertation in Full Text?

A: ITP dissertations and theses (and those from other colleges in the United States and Canada) can be found through the database Proquest. 

ITP Reference Librarian Lucy Erman created the following instructions for how to access Full Text Dissertations and Theses. 

Go to Library Web Site: http://www.itp.edu/library.
Click on Access Online Databases under the Find in Databases menu.
Scroll down the page to ProQuest.
Click on ProQuest.

Enter your login information when prompted. 

One way to search for dissertations in ProQuest:
Select the Advanced tab (top of page).
In Database dropdown menu, select Interdisciplinary—Dissertations and Theses.

You can then search to find a particular dissertation:
Type in the author’s last name in the first box. Select Author from the dropdown menu.
Type a word or short phrase from the dissertation title in the box below the author’s last name.
Select Document title from the dropdown menu. Click on the Search button.
Check Results List for your document.
Select Full Text--PDF to download a copy of the dissertation or thesis.

Or search for dissertations from ITP (or any individual school):
Select School name/code from the drop down menu.
Type [institute of transpersonal psychology] in the first box. (Include [ ] )
(Or use Look up schools link and type name of school in that Search box; Add to Search.)
Click on the Search button and view the Results List for ITP dissertations.
Select Full Text--PDF to download a copy of a specific dissertation.
To add a search by degree, e.g., m.t.p. type m.t.p. (with the periods) in the second search box.
Select Degree from the drop down menu.
